An Encouraging Word for the end of Summer-2007  by David Nelson   (9-8-07)      (Also some comments on the two articles “Everything is Upside Down” letter to Marc White and “An Underworld Conspiracy” by Annie Schisler)

Here are some thoughts for my brothers and sisters for the end of the Summer of 2007. We will be changed to be like the world if we take in too much worldly influence and don’t reject it from our minds and spirits. What is important to the world, in general, should not be our priorities. But the Lord will show us everything that He deems important and what He specifically wants each of us to concern ourselves with each day. What is important? What is important to the Lord? We must see what is important to Him: (1) People are important to Him and (2) spending time getting to know the Lord, and being with Him. Can we help someone, can we have a growing connection or relationship with others getting to know them so that we can help them, or so that they can help us? Open, trusting relationships can be good, where people can be open with each other and more transparent with each other (less guile, pretense, games, and masks).

We may have “10 things” that we want to do each day that we feel are important. We may spend time watching TV (hopefully we are learning something the Lord wants us to know), doing errands, finishing items on our “to do” list, but we may only be “dabbling” in the things that the Lord deems more important. We should spend time with the Lord each day. We may need to ask Him to increase our awareness of and more time spent in “His important things” and to decrease our time in “lesser things.” You might call these “lesser things” children’s toys. (see I Cor. 13:11) As we rise up closer to the Lord we leave “the toys.” Look at each person that you meet or see or have opportunity to connect with as chances to win them closer to the Lord. But we must be closer to Him ourselves to have a good effect on others. So, let’s be closer to the Lord, think of Him, thank Him for things that are good in our lives, spend time waiting on Him and watching with Him. A watchman’s job is just to look and listen. What do you hear? What do you see? Watch with the Lord. He will show you things as you desire to hear and see things from Him.

Actually, if you want to be a prophetic voice for Him (would that all God’s people were prophets (Num. 11:29)) just be a witness of what you see and hear from Him. That’s what I want, to see and hear something from Him and then declare it, being a witness of what I have seen and heard (like you would testify in a court room as a witness of what you have seen and heard). It says in the Word that there are brethren around us who have the testimony of Jesus (what He shows us and what He has done for us), and the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (Rev. 19:10) That’s what Jesus did, what He saw and heard from the Father that’s what He did and spoke.

In Annie Schisler’s article “An Underworld Conspiracy” the evil that is infiltrating the world is a great darkness. In Isaiah 60:2 it says “a great darkness will cover the earth and the people.” This darkness can also infiltrate into us as Christians if we go along with the current of the world, accepting their values, and what is important to them becomes what is important to us. But if we fight this darkness, rejecting each attempt to suck us in, or if we will throw off every worldly weight that besets us or that constantly weighs us down, or is slowing us down, then we will keep His light shining in our hearts and spirits and we will keep the right priorities in our relationship with the Lord intact and growing. Also, we must have a desire to help others know Him, and we should want to have a flow of grace going out to others. To do this we must have love for others (this will be created in us more and more by God) and we must seek to have more connections with others to touch their hearts and draw them into the Lord’s circle.

The “surrendered ones” or “reigning ones” Annie Schisler speaks of are to have “an anointing” to touch others. We will be light in a great darkness and at times we may not even know the great effects we are having. But we must continually run to our source, the one who completely understands all relationships, and we must keep ourselves right with the Lord, close to Him, ever running to Him. He wants us to keep close to Him. He will orchestrate circumstances to push us to Him, He is our Shepherd, to keep us in the right Pasteur, and not straying too far off. We must value very highly a close walk with the Lord, keep it, tend to it, longing to create a closer tie with Him.

He wants us “by His side.” Show us every day, Lord, how to get by your side, and to stay by your side. This is your great purpose, Lord, let us tune our ears to hear how to do this every day. Let us hear, let us come, call us, Lord, please don’t give up on us! May we hear the call each day, make progress each day, and be “anointed ones” to draw others to you also.
